1. Information we collect
1.1 There is no account
Risee has no sign-up, no sign-in and no password. We do not collect your name or your email address, and there is no server holding a profile for you.
To tell one installation from another — for subscription entitlement and for advertising measurement — the app uses a device identifier. Where you are signed in to iCloud, this is the anonymous per-developer record identifier Apple provides; otherwise it is Apple’s identifier for vendors, stored in the device keychain. Neither identifies you personally, and neither is linked to a name, email address or phone number anywhere.
1.2 Information you provide
- Text you want spoken — any wake-up message you type for Risee to read back to you in a synthetic voice.
- Preferences — your chosen voice, tone, wake time, alarm settings, and the optional answers you give during setup.
- Clips — the audio you import from a video in your photo library, and the name you give it.
- Video links — if you paste a link to a video so Risee can use its audio.
1.3 Information collected automatically
- App activity — alarms created, wake-ups, snoozes, streaks. Stored on your device.
- Setup and purchase events — which steps you completed and whether you subscribed, sent to our advertising measurement provider (section 4).
- Advertising identifier (IDFA) — only if you allow tracking when iOS asks. See section 4.
1.4 Audio, video and speech
- Your videos are never uploaded. When you import from your photo library, the video is read on your device and its audio track is extracted there. Risee keeps up to thirty seconds of that audio, on the device. The video itself never leaves your phone, and Risee never stores or plays video.
- Speech recognition runs entirely on your device. If you use your voice to dismiss an alarm, the audio is processed by Apple’s on-device Speech framework. It is never recorded, never stored, and never sent to us or to anyone else.
- Risee does not listen otherwise. The microphone is used only for that dismissal feature, while you are using it.
1.5 What we do not collect
- Your name, email address or phone number
- Location data, precise or coarse
- Health, sleep or fitness data
- Contacts, calendars, photo library contents, or browsing history
- Payment card details — Apple handles all payments and we never see them
2. How we use information
- To speak the words you typed. If you ask for a message in a synthetic voice, the text you wrote and the voice you chose are sent to our text-to-speech provider, which returns audio. Risee does not write your message. There is no AI model generating content for you; a voice reads exactly what you typed.
- To run the app. Scheduling alarms, playing audio, tracking streaks and remembering your settings — all on your device.
- To manage your subscription. Verifying entitlement through Apple and our subscription provider.
- To measure advertising. Understanding which campaigns bring people to Risee. See section 4.
We do not use your text, your clips or your goals to train AI models, and we do not build advertising profiles from them.
3. Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the service providers that make the app work.
- ElevenLabs — text-to-speech. Receives: the text you asked to have spoken, and the voice you selected. Does not receive: any identifier for you.
- AppsFlyer — advertising measurement. Receives: install and session events, setup funnel events, purchase events, your device identifier, and your advertising identifier if you allowed tracking. This is shared with advertising partners, including the platforms we advertise on, to attribute campaigns.
- RevenueCat — subscription management. Receives: Apple transaction and receipt data, and an anonymous app user identifier, to determine whether your subscription is active.
- Risee’s link resolver — used only when you paste a video link. Receives: the link, with tracking parameters stripped, and a hashed device token used solely to enforce a daily limit. The service keeps no database and no user records; the resulting audio clip is deleted from its temporary storage within fifteen minutes, whether or not it was downloaded.
- Apple. iCloud (for the anonymous identifier only), StoreKit (payments and subscriptions), AlarmKit, and on-device speech recognition. Apple’s handling of this data is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
4. Tracking and advertising
Risee does track you across apps and websites for advertising measurement, and it asks your permission before doing so.
We advertise Risee on third-party platforms. To know which advertisements lead to installs and subscriptions, we use AppsFlyer as our measurement provider. When iOS asks whether Risee may track you:
- If you allow it, your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) is shared with AppsFlyer and, through it, with the advertising platform that showed you the ad.
- If you decline, no advertising identifier is collected. Measurement continues in aggregate through Apple’s SKAdNetwork and other privacy-preserving methods that do not identify your device.
You can change this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
This website does not track you. It sets no cookies, loads no analytics and embeds no third-party scripts.
5. Where your data lives
Your alarms, clips, imported audio, streaks and settings are stored on your device — in app storage, user defaults and the keychain. There is no Risee account database and no cloud backup of your alarms. If your device is backed up to iCloud or to a computer, that backup is governed by Apple’s terms, not ours.
Data sent to the providers in section 3 is transmitted over TLS and retained according to each provider’s own policy. Our link resolver retains nothing beyond the fifteen-minute window described above.
6. Your choices and rights
- See what’s stored. In the app: Settings → Your data → Export my data.
- Delete it. Settings → Your data → Clear alarms & history removes your alarms, audio and history. Deleting the app removes everything else stored on the device.
- Stop tracking. iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Manage or cancel your subscription. iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Because we hold no account and no server-side profile, there is generally nothing for us to retrieve or erase on your behalf — the controls above act on the only copy. If you are in a jurisdiction granting rights of access, correction, deletion, portability or objection (including the GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA), and you believe we hold information about you, write to privacy@risee.app and we will respond within the period the law requires.
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, beyond the advertising measurement described in section 4, which you control through the tracking permission.
7. Children’s privacy
Risee is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Risee plays audio that the user supplies and speaks text the user types; that content is not reviewed by us. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact privacy@risee.app.
8. Changes and contact
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, notify you in the app.
